Saudi Arabia is the only country bidding to host the 2034 World Cup

FIFA officially announced that it has received expressions of interest from the football federations of Morocco, Portugal and Spain for the 2030 World Cup and from the Saudi Arabian Football Association for the 2034 World Cup. Saudi Arabia has become the only country bidding to host the 2034 World Cup.

According to previous official notifications from FIFA, October 31 is the deadline to submit intentions to host the 2030 World Cup and 2034 World Cup, which means that Saudi Arabia is the only country bidding to host the 2034 World Cup.

According to the bidding procedures and regulations approved by the FIFA Council on October 4, 2023, FIFA has received the following hosting intentions:

According to the bidding regulations approved by the FIFA Council, the FIFA administrative department will conduct an in-depth bidding and evaluation process for the host site of the 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cup, and it is expected to designate the host site at the FIFA Congress to be held before the fourth quarter of 2024. In accordance with these regulations, the FIFA Executive Branch will engage in targeted dialogue with the sponsor to ensure that a complete and comprehensive bid is received and assessed against the minimum hosting requirements previously approved by the FIFA Council.

The dialogue will focus on clearly defined priority areas such as the event’s vision and key indicators, infrastructure, services, business, sustainability and human rights. Afterwards, FIFA will issue an evaluation report and if these requirements are met, each member association will designate the host venue for the two events at the FIFA Congress.
